ZEMEX Industrial Minerals

Zemex Zemex was established in 1931 as a supplier of industrial minerals used in the petroleum refining industry. Today, Zemex operates five mines and eight plants for the production of specialized industrial minerals for many industrial applications.

Fitz Chem is pleased to represent both Zemex Attapulgite and Kings Mountain Minerals (formerly Oglebay Norton Specialty Minerals).

Zemex Attapulgite operates with its plant and mines near Attapulgus, Georgia. Zemex Attapulgite is a major producer of highly refined attapulgite clays used in numerous products including paints, adhesives, plastics, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products.

Kings Mountain Minerals is a major supplier of ground mica products to the world. Other minerals produced include feldspathic sand and a primary kaolin. Mica is widely used in the paint, plastics, rubber, sound deadening, foundry coatings, roofing products, construction materials, glass, fiberglass, ceramics and tile industries . Products are readily available in bulk, semi-bulk, and bagged quantities.
