DOSS Surfactants From Cytec

Surface active agents (surfactants) reduce surface tension, thereby promoting the emulsifying, dispersing, wetting, and spreading properties of a liquid. There are a wide variety of surfactant products available today, among them the Aerosol OT line of dioctyl sulfosuccinates (DOSS) from Cytec. These products are excellent wetting agents and emulsifers, characterized by very fast migration to the interface. Application areas include:

• Printing ink / overprint varnish systems.
• Paint formulations.
• Textile and paper applications.
• Liquid dry cleaning formulations.
• Glass cleaning solution.
• Agricultural applications.
• Anti-stat.
• A wetting agent for glass, metal, plastic and other substrates.

In addition, Aerosol OT (with the exception of Aerosol OT-S) is approved by the FDA under 21 CFR 178.3400 as an emulsifier or surface active agent in the manufacture of any non-food article intended for food contact use. It is readily biodegradable and is manufactured in compliance with all provisions of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), 15 USC.
